Refurbished grade A, B or C: which to choose?

Updated June 16, 2026 1 min read

A grade A refurbished device is almost like new (no or very light marks, battery ≥ 85%), grade B has micro-scratches invisible from a distance, and grade C visible wear — all are 100% functional and guaranteed. For the best value, grade B is often the smartest pick.

What does « refurbished » mean?

A refurbished device is a used product tested on 30+ points, cleaned, data-wiped, and resold with a warranty. It's not a plain used device sold « as is »: it has been checked and restored.

Grade A — like new

No or very light marks, flawless screen, battery at least 85%. At normal distance it's indistinguishable from new. The grade to pick if looks matter as much as price.

Grade B — very good condition

Micro-scratches visible only up close, battery at least 80%, perfectly functional. Usually the best compromise: wear is invisible in everyday use, at a price well below grade A.

Grade C — good condition

Visible wear (scratches, micro-impacts), crack-free screen, 100% functional. The most economical choice for those who only care about function and want the lowest price.

What about the battery?

Battery health is shown as a percentage of original capacity. A serious refurbisher guarantees a minimum threshold (often 80–85%) and replaces the battery below it. For daily battery life this matters more than looks.

Frequently asked questions

Is grade C worth it?

Yes, if looks don't bother you: it's the same 100% functional, guaranteed device, just with visible wear, at the lowest price.

Does the grade change the warranty?

No. At RenewMobi every grade comes with the same 24-month warranty and 14 days to change your mind.

What battery for a refurbished device?

Aim for at least 80% health for comfortable battery life. Below that, the refurbisher should fit a new battery.
